About this test

Calcium – 24 Hr Urine measures exactly how much calcium your body is flushing out through a full day of urine. It is the cornerstone test in kidney stone workups — because most kidney stones are calcium stones, and the question your urologist needs answered is whether your body is leaking too much calcium into the urine, or whether something else is crystallising.

The test requires a complete 24-hour urine collection: you discard the first morning pass, collect every pass for the next 24 hours in the container provided, and hand in the pooled sample. Getting the collection right matters — a missed sample skews the whole reading.

Blood Lyf supplies the collection guidance, picks up the completed sample from your home, and processes it at an NABL-grade partner laboratory. Your urologist uses the result to tailor prevention — fluid targets, diet changes, or medication — so the next stone never forms.

Symptoms / who should book

  • Kidney stones (current or past)
  • Blood in urine
  • Flank or groin pain episodes
  • Family history of kidney stones
  • Repeat stone formation despite treatment

Questions

On the morning of collection, pass your first urine and discard it. From that moment, collect every single pass into the container for the next 24 hours, including the first pass the next morning. Keep the container cool and hand it over complete.
